The first NFA Season started on Sunday September 10, 1939. The first game to kick off was the New York Lions hosting the Boston Bluejackets. New York would win the game 18-14 en route to a perfect 12-0 season. New York would easily win the NFA East and host the 1939 NFA Championship. In the NFA West, the Cincinnati Buckeyes would only lose to the New York Lions on November 12th 24-7. The Buckeyes would win the NFA West and play in the 1939 American Bowl on December 10, 1939. AWARDS Charles "Charlie" Hall (QB/HB, MIL Indians) was awarded the NFA Most Valuable Player Trophy.
