The sixteenth NFA Championsihp Game featured the 3 time consecutive NFA West Division Champion Chicago Packers against the New York Lions. Both teams would finish the 1954 Season 9-3. The Lions would win the tiebreaker with their strength of schedule and would host the championship game for the third time in franchise history. Prior to the game, most sports writers felt that the Lions would be unable to contain the best offense in the league and the Packers would finally win their first NFA Championship. No writer would pick the Lions to win the championship. They would all be terribly wrong. The 1954 NFA Championship would be one of the most lopsided championship games in NFA history.
