The third NFA Championship was held at Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati, OH. Due to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, the game would be played 3 weeks after the end of the 1941 NFA Season. For the first time in NFA Championship Game history, an NFA West Division team hosted the game. The 12-0 Cincinnati Buckeyes would earn their second championship game appearance, the first one to be held in their home stadium. The 10-2 NFA East Champions, the Boston Bluejackets, would play in their first championship game in franchise history. This was the first American Bowl played between two teams that hadn't met each other in the regular season. The Buckeyes were heavily favored to easily beat the Bluejackets with their number 1 ranked offense in the NFA for the 1941 NFA Season.
