The third NFA Season started on Sunday September 7, 1941. The NFA East Division was a hotly contested race for most of the season. The defending NFA Champions, the Baltimore Knights, were in first place until Week 8 on October 26th. The Boston Bluejackets would defeat the Knights for the second time and take over first place. The Bluejackets would win the remaining 4 games on their schedule and secure a spot in the NFA Championship Game. In the NFA West, there was no drama at all. The Cincinnati Buckeyes would win every game to go 12-0. They would become the first team to earn 2 NFA Championship Game berths. This would be the first time in NFA History that both teams that appeared in the previous seasons championship game, would both finish in second place. This would also be the first time in NFA History that a team (Milwaukee Indians) would finish the season winless (0-12). The NFA Championship Game would be delayed due to the Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor which occurred on the last day of the NFA Season, December 7, 1941. AWARDS Frank Tarkington (QB CIN Buckeyes) was awarded the NFA Most Valuable Player Trophy. Patrick Johnson (CIN Buckeyes) was awarded the NFA Coach of the Year Trophy. 1941 NFA CHAMPIONSHIP Cincinnati Buckeyes vs Boston Bluejackets (December 28, 1941, Nippert Stadium, Cincinnati, OH)
